Max Maximum (Original Name: Jonah Lewis)
Max is a vampire's human servant. Although, to those unaware of vampires, he will refer to himself as a butler in order to get away with calling his vampire 'Master' in public without getting strange looks.
History: Max hails from the town of Springfield, Missouri. He was raised by a single father and has one younger sister. He was attending school an hour away from home in Branson for the culinary arts. He wanted to be a pastry chef. That changed when he chose to flirt with the wrong woman at a frat party. His hook-up turned out to be a vampire. She tried to drain him, but he fought her off using a crème brûlée blowtorch he was lucky enough to have in his backpack at the time.
That woman was not just any vampire. She was Lillian Osborne, the sister of the most powerful vampire lord of the Ozarks, Erik Osborne (also known as the King of the Ozarks). Surprisingly, Erik wasn’t very sorry to see his sister killed. She had been a constant threat to the secrecy of vampire culture with her carelessness. But she was also second in command in the hierarchy of his territory. Vampire law demanded vengeance. He couldn't let Max go unpunished.
So Erik offered Max a deal: Protection in exchange for a life of servitude.
Max was forced to renounce his old life. For all official purposes, Jonah Lewis died in the same house fire that consumed Erik's sister and several other students. He was given the name Max Maximum by Erik (who thought it was funny) and has gone by that moniker ever since. He now spends most of his life confined inside Erik's Mansion located on Table Rock Lake. He is often only allowed to leave if it is to travel at his master's side. Erik rarely goes on long trips without him.
His master treats him more like a pampered house pet than a person. He regulates all of Max's meals and forces him to follow an extreme fitness/training regimen to learn the best ways to protect himself against a vampire's attack. At the same time, Erik is doting and will often shower him with lavish gifts or allow him a high spending limit on a personal credit card. Though Max has grudgingly come to accept his position, he is still resentful of essentially becoming Erik's slave. Material wealth, as far as Max is concerned, does not replace his need for social contact. Max is not at all shy about making his grievances known.
Despite this, Max cannot deny that Erik has risked much to keep him protected. A vampire appearing to have gone soft could provoke attacks from powerful rivals attempting to seize power in the region. Without Erik's constant watch, Max would easily be overtaken by rivals and used as a pawn in vampire politics --assuming he wasn't outright killed.
With vampires, nothing is ever simple. Therefore, the relationship between Max and Erik remains a complicated one.

Max's Appearance: He's 27 years old. 6'4" with dark hair and dark eyes. He keeps a gentlemanly appearance, wearing expensive suits and pricey accessories (most of which were actually chosen for him by his master). He has a small round brand (his master's coat of arms) burned into the nape of his neck. His hair is usually neat and stylishly short, gelled back, while he'll often let his facial hair grow out into a rugged 5 o'clock shadow. He's absolutely ripped with lean muscles, thanks to a rigorous daily exercise and diet routine. Though, he resents this because it's by his master's wishes, not his own. (He'd really rather be soft and eat cookies.)
A note for anyone with extra senses: Max tends to wear very spice-heavy cologne, though it's not an overpowering odor. Beneath that, for the ones who can recognize it, is the scent of death/decay. That's what happens when you spend all your time with vampires.
Personality: Max is a lovable idiot, while also being quick-witted and chaotically charismatic. He almost always has a comeback prepared (usually a terrible, terrible pun) and has a knack for oscillating between deep and silly conversation in one sitting. He flirts as easily as breathing and is more than happy to take things further if he's given half a chance. Despite being all too eager to jump feet first into any intimate relationship, at his core, he is a romantic pining for deeper connections he thinks he can never have.
He has a passion for food and baking and will use every opportunity to practice it. But eating everything himself is just too depressing. He's a lonely extrovert desperately wishing for friends that don't view him as more than a dinner item. His coping mechanisms developed in a life of captivity are drinking too much to suppress the loneliness, stress baking, and engaging in risky escapades, among other potentially self-destructive behaviors. Though he is forever bound to a life with his Master, deep down, he still clings to a dream of getting away and starting his own cafe and bakery, but he knows that's nothing but a silly fantasy.
