"I miss him," he finally manages to choke out, and immediately reaches for the muffin, peeling away the paper and beginning to deconstruct the top with an intent, grim look on his face. Once it's been reduced to small, fluffy particles, he glances over at Max again and mutters, "You forgave him, yes? How did you do it?"
