I happened upon these in the market, and thought the sugar lace would make a very find addition to your cafe, should you wish to duplicate them. As I understand it, they're meant to float on the surface of tea, or decorate pastries and sweets.
A belated but no less merry Yule to you, Max, and may you enjoy many more.
[He lets out a low whistle when he opens the box and finds the collar pins and cufflinks. They are beautiful. Max expects nothing less of a man with such fine taste. But the pins, especially, are nice. He's never considered wearing something like that before. Why not, he wonders belatedly. They look stunning.
As much as he likes his accessories, he has to admit it's the sugar doilies that excite him most. What a wonderful idea! How could he have forgotten them? That's just the kind of thing his new cafe needs. He's touched that Astarion thought of him like this.
He picks up his tome and writes out a response:]

Speaking of, Lioriley will be working there in the kitchen some days. I don't think either she or I would mind if you wanted to come by and see her there. I can save a seat in the sun for you.

I should like that very much. Obviously I can't enjoy the offerings of the cafe, but a handsome, well dressed elf at the window certainly can't hurt business, yes?
